Job summary

FWI (FedWriters, Inc.) is seeking a Hydromet Development Advisor to optimize the MRMS Hydromet/QPE codebase for the VCP-Agnostic version. You will advise on C++ strategy, modify code as needed, and guide the development team with architectural and risk insights.

The role is fully remote, with a standard Mon-Fri schedule, 8 AM–5 PM CST. Travel is minimal; the team relies on demonstrable software expertise and clear technical communication.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in a technical or business discipline.
• 4+ years of professional and/or academic experience.
• Familiarity with meteorological datasets and weather radar output is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Analyze the MRMS Hydromet/QPE codebase and advise on the VCP-Agnostic MRMS version.
• Modify existing C++ code or contribute new code to optimize the processing software.
• Provide expert guidance on software design, coding approach, and development risk for MRMS projects.
• Produce technical documentation for development activities (schematics, code repos, test reports).
• Prepare quarterly status reports.
