The Position - Senior Business Development Manager

Above Group is seeking an eager and collaborative Senior Business Development Manager to establish new client relationships in support of multiple regional offices / remote workforce and introduce our technical professionals to ideal client teaming partnerships while staying up to date with marketing trends. While our ideal candidate will bring experience in the A/E/C or professional services industries, what we are looking for is someone with a determined, can-win attitude that can accurately represent our brand’s history to establish targeted new client relationships. The right candidate will join our Marketing and Business Development team, share our team-oriented approach, and thrive while balancing many initiatives. This is an exciting position that requires exceptional communication, and quick-thinking skills. General Duties

  • Develop a strong understanding of Above Group’s historical project portfolio and the technical teams’ individual project portfolios
  • Research new business opportunities based on the annual company-wide strategic markets
  • Identify new target clients and business opportunities and develop strategies to pursue them
  • Research industry-specific conferences and develop strategy for attendance, scheduling, and agendas
  • Develop a strategic marketing plan to support business development and industry leadership (ex: articles, blogs, white papers, press releases, awards, industry organizational speaking and education, etc.)
  • Develop forecasted spend for budget request/support, track expenditures, measure ROI
  • Communicate with leadership, teams, and other departments to ensure that all are aware of current and future projects
  • Initiate conversations or contact and lead high-level discovery calls with prospects
  • Introduce technical staff to new target client’s decision makers
  • Mentor and support Project Management team on navigating and maintaining client relationships
  • Fill and track leads and opportunity pipeline database
  • Work with designers and other staff to create visual materials that promote products or services.
  • Ability to understand technology and processes that make up Above Group’s marketing and business strategy
  • Understand and maintain leading and lagging key performance indicators (KPIs) for department
  • Responsible for sourcing speaking events and opportunities for article submission to industry publications
  • Lead industry award procurement and submissions
  • Logistical and managerial duties involved in the daily handling of administrative tasks and responsibilities

Minimum Requirements

The Business Development Professional shall meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, sales, business development, engineering, architecture, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience or related experience; or equivalent combination of education and compliance experience, preferred.
  • Experience navigating the federal AEC market sector (SAM.gov, HigherGov, etc.), ideally with a proficiency in DoD and Dept. of VA qualifications
  • Team player; Relates well to others internal and external, professional demeanor, prioritize customer satisfaction
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management.
  • Ability to work independently/self-motivated, highly organized and responsive.
  • Strong work ethic and emphasis on attention to detail.
  • Great strategic planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong project management, collaboration, and teamwork skills
  • Able to prioritize multiple tasks, coordinate shifting priorities, respond to short-term deadlines, and carry a heavy workload
  • Time Management. Ability to be flexible with schedules and duties.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion with respect to important matters.
  • Previous experience in the Architectural/Engineering/Construction (A/E/C) industry is highly desired
  • Strong computer software skills, including Microsoft Office (with an emphasis on Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook), experience with Cosential/Unanet CRM
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident of the U.S.
