Job summary

Stride, Inc. is seeking a Business Data Specialist to develop, maintain, and support domain-specific data products that enable operational reporting, compliance, funding, and analytics.

The role partners with Data Engineering, Data Governance, and Analytics to ensure data is accurate, traceable, and well-documented. This position blends strong technical data skills with business understanding, building dbt models in Snowflake, validating data quality, and addressing production issues.

Qualifications

• Five to seven years of data analysis experience.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Experience communicating with teachers and school leaders.
• MS365 proficient.
• Experience with SQL.
• Experience in developing reports and/or dashboards.
• Ability to travel 10% of the time.
• Ability to clear required background check.
• Bachelor's degree in mathematics, computer science, technology, or education leadership.
• Experience working with education data sets.
• Experience developing dashboards in Power BI.
• Python for ETL processes.
• Snowflake, DBT, Streamsets and/or Alation experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance domain-specific data products and data models using dbt and Snowflake to support reporting, analytics, compliance, funding, and business processes.
• Partner with Data Domains to identify and incorporate enterprise data for data products.
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions while balancing immediate needs with maintainability.
• Design and implement solutions for complex ad hoc data requests and reusable data assets.
• Perform data validation, reconciliation, root cause analysis, and QA to ensure data integrity.
• Investigate data quality issues and coordinate with cross-functional teams to fix root causes.
• Maintain configuration-driven solutions that simplify business rules and ensure validation of dependent settings.
• Build understanding of how configurations drive system logic and reporting to reflect business intent.
• Ensure data models are traceable and well-documented to meet audit/compliance needs.
• Apply systems thinking to identify risks and simplify processes.
• Become SME for assigned domains and develop expertise in data lineage and reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with Analysts to translate functional requirements into scalable technical solutions and guidance.
