Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Business Analyst for a 100% remote role supporting Veterans Affairs. The role demands extensive experience in Agile/SAFe, requirements elicitation, and effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The candidate will lead requirements capture, manage ALM artifacts in JIRA, develop user stories, and coordinate with systems engineers. A Master’s degree and US citizenship are required for this federal opportunity.

Qualifications

• Experience with Agile/SAFe methodologies and software development
• Excellent oral and written communication with non-technical audiences
• Strong attention to detail and problem solving
• Experience performing independent research to resolve complex questions
• Advanced experience with Microsoft Office including Excel
• Expertise with JIRA and requirements management in ALM environments
• Experience in large, Agile software development or data integration projects

Responsibilities

• Lead the capture of business requirements for software development teams
• Collaborate with business users, IT, and leadership to elaborate and document requirements in an ALM tool
• Manage requirements in an ALM tool
• Perform Agile requirement management activities for a product team
• Analyze user needs to determine functional, cross-functional, and technical requirements
• Conduct user interviews and develop process models and specifications
• Gather and document business, functional, technical and non-technical requirements
• Elaborate user stories and decompose into backlog items with acceptance criteria
• Use JIRA for requirements management, testing and defect management
• Collect, track and monitor system and business requirements
• Validate requirements and integration
• Conduct backlog refinement sessions
• Coordinate with Systems Engineers on technical impact
• Manage requirements for various projects
• Write and deliver project documents to client
• Identify and manage risks and issues
• Develop and maintain backlog(s)
• Own change control for requirements
• Develop Change Requests
• Facilitate configuration management for artifacts
• Document traceability amongst requirements, tests, risks
• Report program execution status and metrics in SAFe
• Identify tasks and interrelationships for well-documented stories
• Become a product SME
• Lead and mentor junior analysts
• Establish relationships with product and business owners
• Support development team to understand requirement details
• Follow Scrum and deliver requirements for Sprint teams
• Remove impediments to complete Sprints
• Provide qualitative and quantitative information to teams and stakeholders
• Support change control processes
