Job summary

Travelport is hiring a Senior Software Development Engineer for a remote US role. You will design, build, and operate scalable backend systems, data pipelines, and AI-facing platforms that power flight search, pricing and trip planning services.

You will work across backend, data, and platform engineering with a strong emphasis on CI/CD, observability, and production readiness in a cloud-native environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing, building, and operating production-grade backend systems.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Scala, and Python across multiple runtimes.
• Experience building distributed data processing using Apache Spark and Kafka.
• Familiarity with cloud-native infrastructure and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Helm, AWS).
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/Terragrunt).
• Solid understanding of CI/CD, automated testing, and software delivery best practices.
• Knowledge of observability—monitoring, logging, metrics, alerts—for production systems.
• Excellent collaboration in agile, code-review driven environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and data pipelines spanning streaming ingestion, batch, and API layers.
• Develop and evolve data models, schemas, and storage patterns for a data lake.
• Build platforms exposing data, tools, and services to AI-driven applications.
• Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot workloads on a Kubernetes-based cloud platform.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines with automated build, test, deployment, and release processes.
• Collaborate with data science, platform, and engineering teams for scalable solutions.
• Implement automated testing, observability, and operational tooling with metrics and dashboards.
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, architecture decisions, and agile planning.
• Drive improvements in reliability, scalability, performance and cost efficiency.
