Job summary

Darwin Recruitment is seeking a Senior Autonomous Aviation Software Architect in Florida (remote) to own the software architecture for its autonomous C-UAS platform, guiding onboard computer and Ground Control Station development. You will code in C++ and Python, integrate AI/ML perception, sensor fusion, flight-control and navigation, and work closely with hardware, AI/ML and systems engineers.

• Aviation autonomy experience is essential.
• Hands-on development in C++ and Python required.
• Not a purely architectural role; code and work directly with the system.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop software for onboard mission computer and Ground Control Station (GCS).
• Develop and integrate autonomous aviation software across drone, autopilot, sensors and mission computer.
• Integrate AI/ML perception, navigation and sensor-fusion capabilities.
• Integrate sensors including EO/IR, LWIR and radar.
• Develop production software primarily using C++ and Python.
• Work closely with flight-control, systems, AI/ML and hardware engineers.
• Lead hardware/software integration and troubleshoot systems during testing.
• Participate directly in flight-test events (~25% travel).
• Provide technical leadership across the GCS and onboard computing architecture.
