Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior SYNON/AS400 Developer to design, develop, and support business-critical applications in an AS400 environment. You will collaborate with business analysts, leads, QA, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions across the software lifecycle.

The role supports remote work with preference for applicants in Richardson, TX, while maintaining flexibility and work‑life balance.

Qualifications

Experience in AS400/IBM i development environments.
Hands-on RPGLE and RPGILE programming experience.
Proficiency in CLLE development and system-level programming.
Experience developing and maintaining applications using SYNON.
Ability to participate in the full software development lifecycle, including analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment, and production support.

Responsibilities

Partner with business analysts and technical leads to clarify requirements and define technical solutions.
Analyze business needs and prepare technical designs, estimates, and development plans.
Develop, review, and enhance applications using AS400 technologies including RPGLE, RPGILE, CLLE, and SYNON.
Create and execute unit test plans, resolve defects, and support quality assurance and regression testing activities.
Support deployments, production releases, and post-implementation activities to ensure stable and successful solution delivery.
