Job summary

Indeed is seeking a Software Engineer VI to act as a Technical Fellow for the Interop space, owning architectural direction across integration domains and guiding a team of 40-50 engineers. You will partner with senior leaders to set technical strategy and ensure scalable, reliable B2B integrations.

The role emphasizes architecture, documentation, and leadership, with a focus on improving integration reliability and simplifying complex partner integrations across a fast-growing platform.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and a minimum of 15 years of related experience; or a Master's degree with a minimum of 12 years of experience; or a PhD with 8 years experience.
• Experience designing and evolving service-oriented architectures, distributed systems, APIs, and data platforms (SQL and NoSQL).
• Experience applying AI/ML capabilities and AI-assisted engineering practices to accelerate architecture, development velocity, and integration quality at scale.
• Demonstrated ownership and accountability as a principal technical and product contributor.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence technical direction across engineering, product, and executive audiences.

Responsibilities

• Own architectural assessment and simplification efforts across multiple teams or domains.
• Partner with senior engineers, technical leaders, and business partners to guide architectural decisions and system evolution.
• Establish and promote effective mechanisms for documenting and communicating architectural decisions and trade-offs.
• Translate architectural needs and user feedback into improvements for shared platforms, tools, or processes.
• Contribute code and design improvements to internal systems as appropriate, setting a high bar for quality and maintainability.
• Influence architectural standards and best practices across the engineering organization through collaboration and example.
