Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking a Senior Android Developer for a remote contract role to lead the design, development, and ongoing maintenance of core Android applications. The candidate will collaborate with product managers, UX/UI designers, and backend engineers to deliver scalable, high-performance experiences and guide architectural decisions.

The role includes mentoring junior and mid-level engineers, participating in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and supporting CI/CD pipelines and Play Store

Qualifications

• 5+ to 8+ years of Android development experience.
• Proficiency in Kotlin and Java.
• Experience with Android SDK, Android Studio, Gradle, and Jetpack Compose.
• Experience with Retrofit, Room, and SQLite.
• Cloud platform experience (AWS/Azure/GCP) preferred.
• Published apps on Google Play Store preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Design & Build: Develop advanced, resilient Android applications from scratch or enhance large-scale codebases.
• Architecture: Own MVVM, MVP, or Clean Architecture and follow SOLID principles.
• API Integration: Integrate with RESTful APIs, JSON, WebSockets, and backend services.
• Optimization & Quality: Profile performance, fix memory leaks, reduce crashes and ANRs, and write tests with JUnit & Espresso.
• Collaboration & Mentorship: Participate in Agile ceremonies, review code, mentor teammates.
• CI/CD & Deployment: Manage Git workflows, contribute to CI/CD, and support Google Play release management.
