Job summary

Virta Health is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to build trusted data models and analytics capabilities at scale. You will write SQL and dbt models, develop LookML, and ensure data accuracy across departments.

The role partners with Analytics, Finance, Growth, and Clinical teams to deliver production-ready solutions. The stack includes BigQuery, dbt Cloud, and Looker/LookML, with a focus on data modernization, self-service analytics, and governed datasets for AI workflows.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in analytics engineering, data engineering, or related technical roles with production data experience.
• Advanced SQL skills with data-modeling judgment and handling historical state.
• Hands-on dbt experience including modular transformations, incremental models, testing, and docs.
• Experience building LookML views, Explores, dimensions, and measures with consistent metric definitions.
• Experience with BigQuery or similar cloud data warehouse; optimize queries for freshness, performance, cost.
• Strong software engineering practices: version control, code review, automated tests, and controlled deployments.
• Proficiency in Python or Go for scripting, validation, and automation.
• Ability to translate ambiguous business requirements into reusable technical solutions.
• Experience tracing data issues across sources, transforms, and BI outputs; ensure reliability.

Responsibilities

• Build reusable analytical models; design dbt models and BigQuery datasets with proper grain and keys.
• Develop shared semantics; maintain LookML views and Explores; ensure consistent definitions across tools.
• Deliver modernization work in production; support data rearchitecture and Looker Core migration.
• Turn business questions into technical data solutions with stakeholders for reusable outcomes.
• Ensure data correctness and operational quality; implement automated tests and guard against issues.
• Improve performance and maintainability; optimize SQL, partitions, and model lineage.
• Contribute data capabilities for agents and AI; provide governed datasets and semantic definitions.
• Lead work from scoping to deployment; review code and promote reusable patterns.
