Job summary

GigEngineer Inc. is seeking a Senior Design Engineer (Aircraft Architecture & Airframe Surface Modeling) for remote work under a contract-to-start arrangement.

You will own aircraft configuration, create high-quality surface models in SolidWorks, and ensure geometry supports downstream structures, aero, and manufacturing. This hands-on role requires independent work and clear communication in a remote team.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in aircraft design / airframe CAD.
• Surface modeling for aerodynamic shapes and smooth transitions.
• SolidWorks surfacing and top-down modeling expertise.
• Experience with aircraft architecture, packaging, interfaces.
• Watertight geometry ready for CFD meshing workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own aircraft configuration and architecture development: fuselage, wing-body, integration, nacelle/duct/fairings, and major packaging decisions.
• Create and refine high-quality surface models in SolidWorks using surfacing tools.
• Drive geometry that supports downstream engineering: structures, aero, propulsion packaging, and systems routing.
• Build and maintain master models with clean references and robust design intent.
• Produce engineering drawings and deliverables: layouts, sections, interfaces, tolerances.
• Participate in design reviews and communicate trade studies clearly.
• Coordinate with analysis engineers (CFD/FEA) to ensure geometry supports simulations.
• Act as the geometric owner for conceptual design and prototype decisions.
