Job summary

Zillow Group is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer for Mercury Mobile to define how AI appears inside ZIM on iOS and Android. You will own architectural decisions across Swift and Kotlin, enabling streaming AI in conversations and multi-modal content in real time, even on spotty networks.

You will collaborate with AI, Web, and Backend teams to shape the roadmap and set standards for AI coding agents in mobile development.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building and shipping native mobile applications at consumer scale.
• Production experience on iOS and Android, or strong delivery on one platform and exposure to the other.
• Fluent in Swift and Kotlin, with SwiftUI and Jetpack Compose experience.
• Experience with real-time or streaming data and GraphQL.
• Experience using AI coding agents in production work.
• Ability to architect modules or platforms used by multiple teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and ship the mobile client architecture for AI in conversations — streaming responses, multi-modal content.
• Own cross-platform architectural decisions for the ZIM core, converging Swift and Kotlin implementations.
• Build real-time, resilient messaging experiences on unreliable networks with observability and SLOs.
• Partner with AI, Web, and Backend teams shaping the roadmap and represent mobile in decisions.
• Use AI coding agents in workflow and set team standards for adoption.
• Improve testing and delivery velocity with unit, snapshot, and UI automation.
• Mentor engineers across platforms and grow cross-platform depth.
