Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Sr. Staff AI Engineer to join the Intelligent Foundations and Experiences team. You will design, develop, and deploy AI software components, including foundation model training, LLM inference, and multi-agent workflows, while advancing model safety and governance.

You will mentor engineers and drive the enterprise AI architecture vision across teams. Remote work is available, with compensation aligned to seniority and location.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a relevant field with substantial AI/ML experience.
• At least 8–10 years of hands-on AI/ML development and leadership experience.
• Strong programming experience in Python and at least one of Go/Scala/Java.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products used by customers and associates.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including LLMs and agents.
• Lead foundation model optimization, governance, observability, and model evaluation.
• Contribute to the long-term AI architecture vision and enterprise roadmap.
• Mentor senior engineers and influence stakeholders up to SVP level.
