Job summary

BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, Inc. is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to join the Facets Claims, Integrations & Operations and BlueCard/ITS division in a fully remote capacity.

You will design and build enterprise-scale AI platform capabilities, integrate AI agents with business apps, and lead production-ready AI deployments using Python and cloud services. Final interviews will take place at Chattanooga, TN headquarters.

Qualifications

• Education Bachelor's degree in STEM or related field or equivalent work experience required.
• Master’s or PhD strongly preferred in Computer Science, AI, or Machine Learning.
• 5+ years of relevant work experience in analytics, technology, software engineering, or healthcare.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with machine learning and AI models (LLMs, diffusion models).
• Experience handling large, complex datasets and ML pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead ideation, development, and productionalization of AI solutions for healthcare payer use cases.
• Architect and deploy AI models and algorithms using Python and cloud platforms like GCP Vertex AI.
• Collaborate with product teams to define opportunities for AI automation and process improvements.
• Stay current with AI research and champion adoption of cutting-edge techniques.
• Build robust, scalable systems for production deployment of ML models.
• Mentor junior engineers on best practices in AI development and system design.
• Define evaluation and validation frameworks to ensure model accuracy and reliability.
