Job summary

UnitedHealth Group's OptumHealth National Actuarial and Healthcare Economics (HCE) team seeks an Associate Director, Actuarial to oversee actuarial models and deliver strategic insights for Medicare ACO lines of business. You’ll manage 1-2 analysts, translate complex data for senior leaders, and drive Value-Based Care initiatives in a risk-taking provider environment.

The role offers remote work across the U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or related field.
• 5+ years of actuarial experience with healthcare analytics foundational literacy.
• 3+ years of experience analyzing and manipulating large healthcare claim datasets.
• Proficiency in Excel and SQL.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills; ability to anticipate stakeholder questions.

Responsibilities

• Oversee, build and maintain actuarial models for forecasting performance risks.
• Analyze revenue/claim data and translate complex concepts for senior leaders.
• Serve as a resource for risk-taking provider organizations.
• Communicate results and provide recommendations to stakeholders.
• Contribute to Value-Based Care programs and modeling.
• Mentor and review work of a team of 1-2 analysts.
