Job summary

Rate is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (TypeScript/React) for the Product Engineering team. This remote, production-focused role emphasizes building consumer-facing interfaces and contributing to shared component systems.

You will work with designers and engineers to deliver accessible, high-quality UI across the stack, with a strong emphasis on modern React tooling and API collaboration.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of front-end development experience.
• Senior-level experience building and maintaining production web applications.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and React, with Tailwind CSS.
• Experience building UI component libraries or design systems in production.
• Strong accessibility and responsive design skills.
• Experience with React Router and TanStack.
• Familiarity with server-rendered React and full-stack architectures.
• Experience building APIs with TypeScript (Express, Hono, or similar).
• Comfortable with Git-based workflows and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Be a critical technical contributor focused on hands-on coding and shipping high-quality production software.
• Contribute to and evolve shared UI component libraries with accessibility and design fidelity.
• Architect, develop, and maintain modern React applications using TypeScript.
• Build reusable, accessible UI components for cross-team adoption.
• Contribute to full-stack development, including API integration and development.
• Collaborate with designers to translate designs into production-ready interfaces.
• Ensure code quality through reviews, testing, and best practices.
• Communicate technical decisions clearly with engineers and stakeholders.
