Job summary

NMS seeks a Remote Security Officer to protect clients across remote Alaska camps. You will patrol facilities, control access, and respond to emergencies while ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Candidates need 3+ years of security/military experience, Alaska licenses, handgun handling, and English proficiency. Expect dormitory living, long shifts, and ongoing pre-employment testing and training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least three years of full-time professional security, law enforcement, or military experience.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record in past 3 years.
• Must obtain Alaska Guard License prior to starting work ($97).
• Must obtain Alaska Armed Guard License upon hire.
• Handgun handling experience to pass law enforcement style qualification.
• Eligible for TWIC, ATF Explosive Possessor card, etc.
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.
• Pass pre-employment contract requirements (drug test, physical, fit-for-duty, hearing test).
• Must live in dormitory-style settings and work as part of a team.
• Must stand for 12 hours per shift; able to manage long shifts.
• Contract requires English reading/writing/speaking.
• Must meet safety guidelines and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and patrol assigned buildings, areas, or grounds.
• Permit entry only for properly authorized individuals.
• Check doors, windows, and gates for secure conditions.
• Record data such as property damage or unusual occurrences.
• Warn violators and may apprehend or expel violators.
• Notify on-site personnel of visitors and access requests.
• Respond to emergencies or disasters to protect life and property.
• Operate camp access control systems and manage visitor lists.
• Check facility systems (heating, lighting, security, fire, etc.) for operation.
