Job summary

Canonical is hiring an Ubuntu Security Engineer to join an industry-leading security engineering team. You will monitor, triage, respond to, and document vulnerabilities in open source software. You will coordinate remediation with internal and external partners.

This is an engineering-focused role that may involve producing security assessments, building features, code reviews, and collaborating with the open source community and industry initiatives.

Qualifications

• Understanding of security vulnerabilities and remediation techniques.
• Familiar with coordinated disclosure practices.
• Experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred).
• Strong communication and teamwork in distributed environments.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, fix, and test vulnerabilities in open source packages.
• Keep track of vulnerabilities in the Ubuntu ecosystem and coordinate patches.
• Collaborate with Ubuntu community and upstream developers to exchange patches.
• Audit source code for vulnerabilities.
• Build features and tools to strengthen Ubuntu security.
