Job summary

The Bitcoin Way is a Bitcoin-only consultancy helping clients achieve self-custody, cybersecurity, privacy, and Plan B residency. We operate with radical transparency, autonomy, and high standards.

You will own the security stack, map data, and drive incident containment with a 60-day audit and ongoing improvements. We hire serious Bitcoiners, offer a monthly tooling budget, and allow work from anywhere with three weeks of PTO.

Qualifications

• Hardened Linux infrastructure with security controls and self-hosted stacks.
• Experience with third-party services like Cloudflare, Authentik, and BlueHost.
• Scripting and automation: Bash, Python; CI/CD with GitHub Actions.
• Ability to test controls and demonstrate risk reduction.
• Clear communication of security decisions to non-technical teammates.
• Bitcoin conviction and preference for Bitcoin-first security posture.

Responsibilities

• Run a full security audit in 60 days: inventory, data map, risk register, 12-month roadmap.
• Deploy applications and migrate client data onto infrastructure we control.
• Reduce third-party data handling to zero for any client data.
• Own the self-hosted stack: hardening, CVE remediation, backups, DR.
• Own the AI infrastructure: deployment and devops for internal AI agents.
• Author security policy: incident response, blameless post-incident reviews.
• Own identity and access management: SSO, MFA, least privilege, access reviews.
• Operations monitoring and alerting: uptime and data flows.
• Document every system for recoverability by another engineer.
• Report measurable risk reduction: roadmap progress, vulnerabilities aging, incidents.
