Job summary

Etched is seeking a Security Engineer to design, implement, and operate a unified security posture across on-prem, hybrid, and cloud environments. You will build scalable monitoring, threat detection, and incident response capabilities to protect AI hardware and developer workflows.

You’ll own vulnerability management, identity security, and zero-trust initiatives, collaborating with infrastructure, IT, and application teams to evolve security while maintaining velocity and innovation.

Qualifications

• 5-7+ years of experience in security engineering, SOC operations, detection engineering, or a similar role.
• Strong software engineering skills with Python, Go, Bash, (C and Rust a major plus).
• Experience with SIEM and SOAR platforms; able to design detections, dashboards, and automated workflows.
• Experience with EDR/XDR platforms, endpoint security hardening, and telemetry collection across multiple OS.

Responsibilities

• Harden security baselines across on-prem, hybrid, and cloud systems while maintaining speed and usability.
• Integrate telemetry and observability across the environment for unified security visibility.
• Lead vulnerability management, patching, and configuration assurance programs.
• Strengthen identity, access, and network security using Okta, Google Workspace, and FreeIPA.
• Implement zero-trust architectures, SASE controls, CASB, and conditional access policies.
• Operate and enhance security operations tooling (SIEM/SOAR/EDR/XDR).
• Develop detection logic, automation, and runbooks for insider threats and lateral movement.
• Investigate and respond to security incidents with root-cause analysis and remediation.
• Build automation and AI agents to streamline monitoring and remediation workflows.
• Establish metrics and dashboards to measure detection coverage and response times.
• Promote security awareness and ownership across engineering teams.
