Job summary

Nelnet is seeking a Security Advisor to deliver information security and privacy consulting services for CampusGuard and Nelnet clients. The role requires assessing customer environments, performing gap analyses, and supporting remediation in line with standards such as NIST and PCI DSS.

Remote work within the United States is allowed with substantial travel. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree or 5 years in information security, plus one of CISSP, CISA, CISM, CIA, or GSNA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 5 years' experience in information security or privacy.
• Must possess at least one of the following industry certifications: CISSP, CISA, CISM, CIA, or GSNA.
• Knowledge of security/privacy controls and applicable standards (NIST SP 800-171, CSF, ISO 27000, GLBA, GDPR, PCI DSS).
• Experience applying security controls to business systems and processes.

Responsibilities

• Consult onsite and remotely with customers to collect and analyze data related to policies, networks, IT systems, and security.
• Perform gap analyses of current environments, controls, and programs.
• Review requirements with providers to meet information security and compliance objectives.
• Recommend remediation steps to achieve security and compliance goals.
• Travel 25–50% and work in a home office environment.
• Assist with sales and marketing activities as a subject matter expert.
