Carnegie Mellon University is seeking Seasonal Application Readers to assist with the review of applications for the 2027 cohort. This remote, part-time role offers a flexible weekly schedule and a 1-hour training.

Readers will evaluate applications per rubric December–January, submit scores, and maintain confidentiality. Remote work is available in select states; pre-employment background check required. Join CMU's mission to expand access to graduate education.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree
• Ability to evaluate applicants holistically and align evaluations with program mission and criteria.
• Experience mentoring or advising students pursuing graduate study, strongly preferred.
• Faculty members or professionals familiar with graduate admissions expectations are especially encouraged to participate.
• Experience with selective and holistic graduate admission
• Reliable internet access and proficiency with Gmail, the Google Suite, Zoom, VPN
• A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered

Responsibilities

• Training: Attend one virtual (1-hour) training session to review program goals, selection criteria, and the evaluation process.
• Application Review: Independently review assigned applications during December–January using a provided rubric and scoring guide.
• Evaluation Submission: Submit feedback and scores to support selection committee decisions.
• Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality regarding applicant information and then review process.
