Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a talented Software Developer in Test (SDET) for a full-time, 100% remote position. Location is remote across the United States, with a U.S. Citizenship requirement and the possibility of a Public Trust (MBI) clearance.

Salary range is $85,389 - $116,975 per year. Candidates must have strong programming skills (C#, Java, Python) and experience in both manual and automated testing within Agile environments.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in C#, Java, or Python.
• Proven track record on complex software projects with high-quality deliverables.
• Experience in both manual and automated testing.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum and SDLC.
• Proficiency in writing and executing test cases, test scripts, and test plans.
• Strong knowledge of test automation frameworks and tools (Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, QTP, LoadRunner).
• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions).
• Familiarity with version control (Git, Subversion).
• Understanding of performance testing (JMeter, Gatling).
• Experience with defect tracking (JIRA, Bugzilla).
• Knowledge of SQL for validating stored data.
• Experience in testing web applications, APIs, and services.
• Understanding of security testing practices/tools.
• Experience with different types of testing (functional, regression, integration, system, usability, UAT).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Mentor and guide junior testers.
• Understand business requirements and translate to test scenarios.
• Experience with test management tools.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices.
• Ability to conduct test reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Risk-based, exploratory, and context-driven testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test procedures to ensure information systems, products, and services meet standards and end-user requirements.
• Develop test plans, test schedule, and approach.
• Write test cases and scripts and identify data for test scenarios.
• Conduct walkthroughs on test cases/scripts with Test Managers and Leads.
• Perform and lead tests to ensure proper operation and freedom from defects.
• Verify work products using defined methods and environment.
• Document and communicate test results and assist in issue resolution.
• Create daily test metrics and reporting.
• Occasionally perform other IT systems engineering activities.
• Apply technical principles and concepts in the field.
• Provide direction to employees per policies and guidance.
