Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking a Software Developer in Test (SDET) for a fully remote role supporting the Veterans Affairs (VA) department. The position requires strong programming skills in C#, Java, or Python and experience with both manual and automated testing within an Agile environment.

Candidate will develop test plans, scripts, and metrics, lead verification activities, and communicate results to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Must have strong programming skills in C#, Java, or Python.
• Proven track record on complex software projects with high-quality deliverables.
• Experience in both manual and automated testing.
• Familiar with Agile/Scrum and SDLC concepts.
• Proficiency in writing/executing test cases, scripts, and plans.
• Strong knowledge of test automation frameworks and tools.
• Experience with CI/CD tools and Git/GitHub Actions.
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git and Subversion.
• Understanding of performance testing tools and results.
• Experience with defect tracking (JIRA/Bugzilla) and APIs/web services testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, cases, and procedures to meet standards.
• Write tests, scripts, and identify data for scenarios.
• Lead tests for IT systems to ensure defect-free operation.
• Document and communicate test results and metrics.
• Support analysis of results and resolution of issues.
• Mentor junior testers and provide guidance as needed.
• Contribute to program/projects and coordinate with teams.
