Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking a talented Software Developer in Test (SDET) for a fully remote U.S. based role within the VA department. The candidate must have strong programming skills (C#, .Net, Java, or Python) and experience in both manual and automated testing, SDLC, and CI/CD.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in C#, Java, or Python.
• Proven track record on complex software projects and high-quality deliverables.
• Experience in manual and automated testing.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum and SDLC.
• Proficiency in writing/executing test cases, scripts, and plans.
• Knowledge of test automation frameworks/tools (Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, QTP, LoadRunner).
• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions).
• Familiarity with Git and Subversion.
• Understanding of performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling).
• Experience with defect tracking tools (JIRA, Bugzilla).
• Knowledge of database/SQL for validating data.
• Testing of web apps, APIs, and services.
• Understanding of security testing practices and tools.
• Experience with functional, regression, integration, system, usability, and UAT testing.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and procedures to ensure compliance with standards and end-user needs.
• Develop test plans, schedules, and approaches.
• Write test cases/scripts and identify data for test scenarios.
• Traverse test cases/scripts with Test Managers and Leads.
• Lead tests to ensure proper operation and defect-free software/IT systems.
• Perform verification activities using defined methods and environments.
• Document and communicate test results; support issue analysis and resolution.
• Maintain and improve test processes and reporting metrics.
• Possibly perform other IT engineering activities as needed.
• Apply technical principles to meet objectives and provide direction to team members.
• Mentor junior testers and translate business requirements into test scenarios.
