Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC seeks an experienced Software Developer in Test (SDET) for a 100% remote role supporting VA projects. This full-time position requires 10+ years in software testing, strong coding in C#, Java, or Python, and robust test automation expertise. You will design and execute test plans, automate tests, and collaborate across Dev, QA, and project teams to ensure quality in complex information systems.

Qualifications

• Experience with complex software projects and high-quality deliverables.
• Strong programming skills in C#, Java, or Python.
• Hands-on manual and automated testing experience.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and SDLC.
• Ability to write and execute test cases, scripts, and plans.
• Proficient with Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, and performance tools like JMeter.
• CI/CD familiarity with GitHub Actions and version control (Git/SVN).
• Experience with JIRA, Bugzilla, and test management tools.
• Knowledge of databases/SQL and testing of web apps and APIs.
• Security testing practices and risk-based/exploratory testing mindset.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to mentor junior testers and work independently.
• Deep understanding of translating business requirements into test scenarios.
• Familiarity with cloud-based testing platforms is a plus.
• U.S. Citizenship and Public Trust (MBI) eligibility is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans and test cases to ensure conformance to standards.
• Write and maintain test scripts; identify data for test scenarios.
• Lead and conduct tests on IT systems to ensure defect-free operation.
• Document, communicate, and track test results and metrics.
• Support issue analysis and resolution; propose process improvements.
• Create daily test metrics and reports.
• Mentor junior testers; provide technical guidance.
• Collaborate with Test Managers, Requirement Leads, Project Managers, and Developers.
