Pocket FM is seeking a Scriptwriter to join our Japan team on a full-time freelance basis. This remote role is based in Japan and focuses on adapting and localizing long-form stories from English into Japanese.

We value experience in TV, film, audio drama, anime, or web fiction, with genres like Fantasy, Romance, Drama, Thriller, or Romantasy. Strong English and native Japanese are essential for collaboration with our global team.

Qualifications

Professional scriptwriting experience in long-form storytelling.
Strong understanding of serialized storytelling: pacing, hooks, arcs.
Native or near-native Japanese writing and strong English proficiency.
Experience in Fantasy, Romance, Drama, Thriller, Romantasy.
Ability to adapt creatively, not just translate.
Maintain continuity across long-form stories.
Remote work in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in localization or adapting international content.

Responsibilities

Adapt and localize long-form scripts from English into Japanese.
Preserve character voice, emotional impact, pacing, and narrative intent for Japanese audiences.
Rewrite dialogue to reflect Japanese language and culture.
Maintain continuity across characters, storylines, terminology, and worldbuilding.
Incorporate feedback from global Content and Creative teams.
Deliver high-quality scripts consistently and on schedule.
