Pearson is hiring for Associate, Scoring Services to work remotely for the Malta, NY office. The role supports teacher licensure testing programs and involves evaluating responses and engaging in consensus scoring with peers.

Qualifications include current teaching certification in the subject area or equivalently recent educator experience, plus basic computer skills and ability to work remotely. This part-time, remote position offers a starting rate of $17.50 per hour and a focus on quality.

Qualifications

• A current teaching certification in the subject area you are applying for AND are currently teaching or have taught in schools (public or private) within the last three years.
• OR are or have been educators from colleges or universities who have taught or advised a content relevant field within the last three years
• OR hold a degree in the content area and have held professional employment in the content area within the last three years
• Both active and recently retired practitioners can be eligible to score.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate responses to test questions by New York teacher candidates.
• Internalize scoring standards, participate in discussions, and engage with other scorers in consensus scoring activities.
• Recognize and discuss various types of bias (e.g., implicit bias, cultural bias, leniency bias, central tendency bias, halo effect) and effect strategies to reduce personal biases in scoring.
• Meet quality and productivity requirements established for the scoring program, including passing a qualifying test before scoring.
