Pearson is seekingAssociate, Scoring Services to score teacher licensure responses remotely for the Malta, NY office. The role requires current teaching certification or recent classroom experience, along with basic computer skills and US work eligibility.

Scoring is conducted on a part-time, remote basis with a fixed schedule. Responsibilities include evaluating student responses, mastering scoring standards, engaging in consensus scoring, and identifying bias to ensure fair scoring.

Qualifications

• Must hold current teaching certification in the relevant subject area and have taught in schools within the last three years.
• Educator experience from colleges/universities who taught or advised a relevant field within the last three years.
• Degree in the content area with professional employment in the content area within the last three years.
• Must be able to work in the United States and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate responses to test questions by New York teacher candidates.
• Internalize scoring standards, participate in discussions, and engage with other scorers in consensus scoring activities.
• Recognize and discuss various types of bias (e.g., implicit bias, cultural bias, leniency bias, central tendency bias, halo effect) and discuss strategies to reduce personal biases in scoring.
• Meet quality and productivity requirements established for the scoring program, including passing a qualifying test before scoring.
