Job summary

Pearson is seeking a Specialist – Science (Physical Sciences) to develop K-12 assessments in a Content Development team. The role combines content expertise with AI-powered item creation and collaboration with state/district partners across the United States.

You will work to ensure accessible, standards-based content, while coordinating with educators, psychometricians, and Pearson groups. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in physics, chemistry, or equivalent experience.
• Five years’ experience as an elementary or secondary teacher in content areas preferred.
• Professional knowledge of content area and educational trends.
• Some experience in large-scale educational measurement preferred.
• Excellence or potential in AI-supported content development for education.
• Experience with prompting, refining, and evaluating AI-generated content.
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to address challenges for diverse audiences.
• Excellent planning, organization and problem-solving; handle multiple activities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review content-specific test items for large-scale assessments across grades.
• Create item specs, test blueprints, and related documents.
• Use AI tools to enhance assessment content while ensuring quality and accessibility.
• Integrate AI assets in workflows and provide expert feedback.
• Select, train, and manage item writers based on standards and cognitive complexity.
• Support customer meetings with content assessment expertise.
• Oversee test construction and review of test forms.
• Consult with customers during planning and reviews.
• Collaborate with test development managers, other content developers, psychometricians, and Pearson groups.
• Stay updated on AI technologies in educational content creation.
• Other duties as assigned; some travel required.
