Job summary

Minnesota Connections Academy is seeking a School Counselor to support online learning for K-12 students across Minnesota. Working from a home office, the counselor will advise on academics, graduation requirements, and college planning, coordinating with the Manager of Counseling Services.

Responsibilities include maintaining transcripts, creating four-year plans, assisting with course selection, crisis response, and collaboration with teachers and families.

Qualifications

• Must have Minnesota certification in School Counseling.
• Strong technology skills (especially with Microsoft Office products).
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Customer focused approach.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Advise students and families related to academics, career planning and graduation.
• Keep abreast of high school graduation requirements and communicate them to relevant staff.
• Assist with course selection and develop four-year plans.
• Advise on schedule changes and policy adherence.
• Review transcripts and ensure accuracy of credits.
• Coordinate with school records and administrative staff.
• Implement programs for interpersonal adjustment and connect families with resources.
• Participate in crisis prevention and Student Support Team activities.
• Lead collaboration with teachers to identify at-risk students.
• Oversee and maintain the Personal Learning Plan (PLP).
• Support withdrawal processes and data collection.
• Report critical incidents as required by law and policy.
• Assist with late-enrollment transitions and curriculum alignment with state requirements.
• Support AP, SAT/ACT preparation and college admissions guidance.
• Assist with testing administration for high school exams.
