Job summary

Minnesota Connections Academy is seeking certified teachers for secondary Social Studies to manage instructional programs from home in Minnesota. You will consult with learning coaches and students to ensure successful completion of the program.

Responsibilities include grading, progress reporting, parent conferences, and coordinating with parents and staff to tailor learning plans. Occasional travel for events and a flexible schedule may be required.

Qualifications

• Minnesota teaching certification for secondary Social Studies.
• Strong technology skills with Microsoft OS and MS Office.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Highly organized and punctual.
• Customer-focused approach.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for marketing and state testing events (overnight may be required).
• Ability to work remotely if necessary.
• Ability to work some evenings as needed.
• 2-step authentication is required to login to all systems.

Responsibilities

• Support the instructional program with asynchronous web conferencing sessions and synchronous instruction.
• Complete grading, create progress reports and conduct parent conferences in a timely manner.
• Communicate with parents, students and other teachers to develop and update Personal Learning Plans and schedules; score assessments and provide feedback.
• Develop knowledge of the K-12 curriculum and the grades for which responsible.
• Support students and parents with alternate strategies and provide additional assistance with daily assignments and projects.
• Communicate regularly with parents, students, and curriculum specialists by computer and telephone.
• Keep student records and data up-to-date, including attendance and contacts.
• Consult with team members and staff learning specialists to develop enrichment activities and modifications to students’ programs.
• Coordinate with Parent Community Coordinators on social activities and field trips.
• Manage regional field trips and integrate them into the curriculum.
• Create and maintain a virtual school community.
• Assist in organization and administration of State Testing as directed.
• Participate in student recruiting sessions and other marketing efforts that require teacher representation.
• Review curriculum and devise alternate lesson approaches with parents and students.
• Attend field trips and other community activities.
