Job summary

General Dynamics - IT is seeking a Scala Back-End Developer to design, develop and maintain server-side applications for CMS-related work. The role emphasizes robust APIs, data processing, and scalable backend services.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in relevant roles, 10+ years in Java, 5+ years in Scala, and experience with RESTful APIs, distributed systems, Git, Maven, and SQL databases. US residency and security clearance are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience with technical training, certification or degree.
• 10+ years hands-on Java software development experience.
• 5+ years hands-on Scala programming development experience.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
• Skills with functional programming, distributed systems, Git, Maven, and SQL databases.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and OpenShift.
• Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills.
• Must obtain T4 Public Trust clearance.
• Must have lived in the United States for at least 3 of 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain server-side applications using Scala and related technologies.
• Create robust and scalable APIs and ensure efficient data processing and business logic implementation.
• Develop RESTful APIs and write comprehensive unit tests.
• Support distributed systems, version control, and build processes.
• Engage in requirements analysis, system architecture design, and performance optimization of backend services.
• Define technical specifications and address design weaknesses.
• Mentor junior team members and participate in design reviews.
