Job summary

Alignerr is seeking a senior Rust Software Engineer to design and optimize distributed systems powering AI infrastructure. This fully remote hourly contract role offers 20–40 hours per week and the opportunity to work on production-grade Rust code that supports large-scale data pipelines.

You will collaborate with research and engineering teams to tackle concurrency challenges, improve reliability, and push performance and safety across codebases in a remote, async-first environment.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of professional experience writing production-grade Rust.
• Experience building distributed services using RPC frameworks, distributed state management, or consensus protocols.
• Experience debugging complex concurrency issues — deadlocks, race conditions — with async instrumentation and tracing tools.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize high-performance Rust systems for AI data pipelines and evaluation workflows.
• Develop full-stack tooling and backend services for large-scale data annotation, validation, and quality control.
• Improve reliability, performance, and safety across existing Rust codebases.
• Collaborate with data, research, and engineering teams to support model training and evaluation workflows.
• Identify bottlenecks and edge cases in distributed system behavior and implement scalable solutions.
• Participate in synchronous design reviews to iterate on architecture and implementation decisions.
