Job summary

Bayou Recruiting Solutions LLC seeks an experienced Sales Estimator to identify new business opportunities, prepare accurate cost estimates, and manage bid processes for commercial roofing, waterproofing, and metal projects. The role blends technical estimation with client relations and strategic sales to drive growth.

Remote-friendly position with required monthly visits to the McHenry, IL office; willingness to relocate to the McHenry area if not local.

Qualifications

5-10 years proven experience in commercial construction estimating and sales.
Strong understanding of commercial roofing systems and/or metal panel systems.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
Ability to travel to job sites as needed.

Responsibilities

Review project plans, specs, and proposals to develop accurate roofing estimates.
Perform on-site inspections to assess scope, materials, labor, and timeline requirements.
Utilize estimating software and tools to calculate costs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
Develop and maintain relationships with general contractors, property managers, and building owners.
Respond to RFQs/RFPs and follow up on leads to secure new business.
Present estimates and proposals to clients in a clear and professional manner.
Negotiate contracts and close sales in collaboration with the project management team.
Collaborate with operations team to ensure smooth project transitions from estimation to execution.
Attend pre-bid and job meetings as required.
Stay current on industry trends, competitor pricing, and market conditions to improve estimating accuracy and strategy.
