Job summary

Southern Power is seeking a SPC Remote Operations Center Operator to monitor and control renewable assets from the Birmingham, AL ROC. This 24x7 role supports wind, solar, and BESS across the country and interfaces with system operations and asset management.

The role requires an AS technical degree (preferred), familiarity with SCADA/PLC systems, data historians, and plant performance reporting; shift work and a safety-first mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• 2-year AS Technical Degree preferred.
• Military experience in technical field is desired.
• Knowledge of wind/solar/BESS operations preferred.
• Experience with plant data historians (AspenTech or PI) desired.
• Experience with data management across sources (Excel/Access) desired.

Responsibilities

• Operate sites per dispatch orders and procedures.
• Manage remote resets of equipment.
• Oversee curtailment directives.
• Interact with Transmission Provider & Customer.
• Log all events, alarms, and dispatches; complete shift reports.
• Troubleshoot with site personnel; coordinate with operations.
• Prepare facility forecasts and performance reports.
• Support NERC reporting with site personnel.
• Maintain QSE qualifications.
• Perform 24/7 realtime ROC operations.
