Job summary

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center seeks a Patient Business Services Supervisor to oversee institutional billing and revenue cycle operations within Patient Business Services. You will lead daily workflows, monitor performance, and ensure quality across hospital billing functions.

The ideal candidate has an associate degree (or preferred bachelor's) in business administration or accounting, with substantial accounting, healthcare business, or hospital billing experience and 2+

Qualifications

• Required: Associate's Degree Business Administration, Accounting or related field.
• Preferred: Bachelor's Degree Accounting or Business Administration.
• Minimum 6 years Accounting or business office experience including two years of supervisory experience.
• 2 years Hospital or physician business experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate hospital commercial and governmental billing functions for inpatient and outpatient services.
• Oversee governmental follow-up activities to ensure timely reimbursement.
• Provide training, counseling, and guidance to billing staff.
• Monitor staff productivity to ensure departmental, unit, and individual goals are met.
• Oversee processing and billing of institutional claims.
• Ensure governmental letters of agreement are billed appropriately and monitored for correct reimbursement.
• Oversee daily processes with patient accounting systems and electronic billing software.
• Ensure compliance with billing regulations and standard accounts receivable practices.
• Maintain quality assurance standards and QA performance.
• Communicate third-party billing requirements and updates to staff.
• Prepare management reports on key financial indicators.
• Track discharged not final billed accounts, unbilled hospital accounts, and billing rejections.
• Collaborate on updating electronic billing edits and system processes.
