Job summary

The State of Michigan is seeking a Resource Specialist 13 to oversee environmental regulatory compliance across all project phases, acting as the delegated regional authority for environmental programs and coordinating with multiple managers and agencies. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of professional experience in land, water, or natural resources, including state-service levels.

A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a physical, biological, or natural resource science, resource management, resource planning, engineering or a related field.
• Four years of professional experience in the protection, development and maintenance of land, water, or natural resources, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level in state service; or one year equivalent to the senior (12) level in state service.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain it throughout employment in the position.

Responsibilities

• Oversee environmental regulatory compliance across all project phases and ensure environmental clearance.
• Serve as the delegated region authority for environmental programs and liaise with engineers, project managers, and regulators.
• Manage contractors, consultants, design, maintenance, construction and permit staff to ensure statewide consistency and policy adherence.
