Job summary

Kohl's is seeking a Reliability Engineer to strengthen the resilience and availability of our systems and applications. You will partner with development teams to review designs, perform risk assessments and implement robust monitoring and failover strategies.

Responsibilities include incident response, RCA facilitation and driving automation to reduce toil, with a focus on capacity planning and SLOs. This role involves on-call duties and continuous improvement across domains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in MIS, Computer Science or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in software development.
• Strong programming skills in Java, Python, Go or Node.js.
• Working knowledge of systems architecture, OS internals and networking basics.
• Experience with at least one cloud platform (GCP/AWS/Azure).

Responsibilities

• Drive incident response, root cause analysis and preventative measures.
• Automate and improve operational excellence through tooling.
• Ensure reliability, observability and efficiency across product teams.
• Identify toil and opportunities for automation and risk reduction.
• On-call rotation for production incidents and RCAs.
• Apply chaos engineering to identify failures before outages.
• Advise on capacity planning and system behavior.
• Collaborate with product managers to prioritize reliability work.
