Job summary

KeyBank is seeking a Resiliency Engineer to design, build, and improve reliability across on-prem, hybrid, and cloud environments. You will apply software discipline to operations, automate recovery, and prove systems can recover from failure.

This hands-on role requires writing automation, reasoning about failure modes, and collaborating across teams during live recovery exercises. Expect coding, design reviews, and cross-team facilitation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a tech field.
• Demonstrated reliability engineering, DevOps, or tech operations experience.
• Hands-on coding and automation ability with IaC experience (Terraform/Ansible).
• Knowledge of on‑prem and public cloud platforms (GCP/Azure).
• Understanding of high-availability design, redundancy, and failover.

Responsibilities

• Design, code, and maintain automation to reduce operational toil with auditable failover workflows.
• Develop infrastructure-as-code, scripts, and pipelines to provision and validate recovery environments.
• Create self-healing patterns and automated validation for recoverability.
• Partner with teams to assess reliability, define SLIs/SLOs, and meet RTO/RPO targets.
• Plan disaster recovery tests and chaos experiments to expose weaknesses.
