Job summary

State of Missouri is seeking a Regulatory Auditor in the Division of Professional Registration, Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors. The role involves conducting periodic examinations and audits of preneed business records to ensure regulatory compliance and to prepare comprehensive reports for formal action.

The candidate will interpret complex financial and operational data, testify when needed, and collaborate with other agencies. Some travel and potential remote work are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, auditing, risk management, business management or closely related areas.
• Up to one year of professional experience in accounting, finance, auditing or insurance.
• Knowledge of computer applications such as Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze preneed contracts between consumers and preneed sellers in the funeral industry.
• Reconcile and evaluate the registration and handlings of preneed contract monies and other funds collected.
• Collect, analyze and evaluate evidence for use in legal actions and preparing detailed reports of findings.
• Testify in court and hearings concerning findings of audits.
• Coordinate communication relating to ongoing examinations/audits with other agencies when joint efforts are needed.
