Job summary

State of Missouri is seeking a Regulatory Auditor in the Division of Professional Registration, Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors. The role will perform periodic or special audits of preneed business records to ensure regulatory conformance, interpreting complex financial and operational data and producing detailed reports for regulatory actions.

The position requires a four-year degree in finance/accounting/auditing or related fields and up to one year of professional experience, with

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with specialization in finance, accounting, auditing, risk management, business management or closely related areas, including a preferred minimum of six semester hours in accounting.
• Up to one year of professional experience in accounting, finance, auditing or insurance.
• (Additional qualifying experience may substitute on a year for year basis for deficiencies in the required education)
• Knowledge of computer applications such as Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze preneed contracts between consumers and preneed sellers in the funeral industry;
• Reconcile and evaluate the registration and handlings of preneed contract monies and other funds collected;
• Collect, analyze and evaluate evidence for use in legal actions and preparing detailed reports of findings;
• Testify in court and hearings concerning findings of audits;
• Coordinate communication relating to ongoing examinations/audits with other agencies when joint efforts are needed.
