Job summary

Merck is seeking a Regional Medical Scientific Director (MD/PhD or equivalent) to lead therapeutic science discussions with national and regional Scientific Leaders, sharing approved, non-product information and addressing scientific questions.

The role covers Scientific Exchange, Research, Scientific Congress Support, and Scientific Insights, with travel up to 50% within designated US territory. A strong background in Oncology/Hematology and stakeholder engagement is required.

Qualifications

• PhD, PharmD, DNP, DO, or MD with relevant therapeutic area experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant therapeutic area experience beyond degree.
• Ability to conduct doctoral-level discussions with external stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of FDA, OIG, HIPAA, and related guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Develops professional relationships with national and regional SLs to ensure access to company-approved medical and scientific information on areas of therapeutic interest and Company products.
• Conducts peer-to-peer scientific discussions and maintains a reliable presence with SLs to ensure they have a medical contact within the company.
• Addresses scientific questions and directs SL inquiries on issues outside scope to appropriate company resources.
• Maintains current knowledge of dynamic scientific and clinical environment in AOI for the Regional Medical Scientific Director’s therapeutic area.
• Leads protocol-related discussions and site recommendations in collaboration with GCTO.
• Addresses questions from investigators and provides information regarding participation in Company-sponsored clinical studies.
• Gathers feedback and information during activities to inform medical strategy and priorities.
