Job summary

Merck & Co. is seeking a Regional Medical Scientific Director to serve as a therapeutic and disease expert, engaging in scientific exchange with national and regional Scientific Leaders.

You will provide balanced medical information on Company products and contribute to research, congress support, and scientific insights. The role requires a PhD/MD-level credential, strong stakeholder management, and experience in Oncology/Malignant Hematology.

Qualifications

• PhD, PharmD, DNP, DO, or MD.
• Proven competence and a minimum of 3 years of relevant therapeutic area experience beyond that obtained in the terminal degree program.
• Ability to conduct doctoral-level discussions with key external stakeholders.
• Dedication to scientific excellence with a strong focus on scientific education and dialogue.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and networking skills.
• Knowledge of FDA, OIG, HIPAA and other ethical guidelines applicable to pharma.

Responsibilities

• Develops professional relationships with national and regional SLs for approved scientific information.
• Conducts peer-to-peer scientific discussions and maintains medical contact within the company.
• Addresses scientific questions and directs inquiries to appropriate resources.
• Keeps current knowledge of dynamic scientific and clinical environment in the AOI.
• Initiates discussions with SLs/investigators on scientific/data exchange for alignment with research strategies.
• Recommends study sites and investigators for phase II–IV programs; conducts Site Initiation Visits.
• Leads protocol development in collaboration with Global Clinical Trial Operations.
• Engages in scientific congresses and facilitates data exchange for company and competitors.
