Job summary

Merck & Co. seeks a Regional Medical Scientific Director to engage in bidirectional scientific information exchange with Scientific Leaders and to support approved trials and investigator-sponsored studies.

The role spans Scientific Exchange, Research, and Congress support, with travel up to 50% within the US territory. The candidate should hold a PhD, MD, PharmD, DNP or DO and have at least 3 years of relevant experience beyond the terminal degree.

Qualifications

• PhD, PharmD, DNP, DO, or MD.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant therapeutic area experience beyond degree program.
• Ability to conduct doctoral-level discussions with external stakeholders.
• Dedication to scientific excellence with a focus on education and dialogue.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and networking skills.
• Knowledge of FDA, OIG, HIPAA, and other regulatory guidelines.
• Ability to organize and work in a dynamic environment.
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office and virtual meeting platforms.
• Desire to contribute to an inclusive culture.
• Field-based medical experience in Myeloid/Hematology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops professional relationships with national and regional SLs to ensure access to approved medical information.
• Conducts peer-to-peer scientific discussions and maintains medical contacts within the company.
• Addresses scientific questions and directs inquiries to appropriate resources.
• Maintains current knowledge of scientific environment in AOI for the role.
• Initiates discussions with SLs and investigators to align with research strategies.
• Identifies barriers to patient enrollment and supports investigator-sponsored research.
• Recommends study sites and participates in Site Initiation Visits (SIVs).
• Engages in scientific congresses and supports data exchange.
• Gathers feedback to inform scientific needs and priorities.
