Job summary

Merck is seeking a Regional Medical Scientific Director to serve as a therapeutic expert, engaging in scientific exchanges with Scientific Leaders. The role supports Rheumatology and Dermatology Immunology programs and aligns to scientific exchange, research, congress support, and insights.

The candidate will liaise between the scientific community and Merck, onboarding and sharing therapeutic expertise, while ensuring compliance with GCP and SOPs in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• PhD, PharmD, DNP, DO, or MD required.
• Minimum 3 years of therapeutic-area experience beyond the terminal degree.
• Ability to conduct doctoral-level discussions with external stakeholders.
• Familiarity with FDA, OIG, HIPAA and GxP guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Develops relationships with national/regional SLs to share approved medical information.
• Conducts peer-to-peer scientific discussions and maintains a medical contact within the company.
• Directs SL inquiries on issues outside scope to appropriate resources.
• Maintains current knowledge of AOI in the therapeutic area.
• Leads discussions with SLs and investigators to align with research strategies.
• Recommends study sites and investigators for Phase II–IV programs; conducts SIVs.
• Supports scientific congresses and data exchange for Company and competitors.
• Gathers feedback to help understand medical needs and priorities.
