Job summary

HHSC, Region 7 Administration in Austin, Texas, is seeking an Accountant II to perform advanced accounting and analysis. The role handles purchase vouchers, CAPPS Financials processing, and expense monitoring to ensure compliance with contractual limits.

The candidate will prepare financial and statistical reports, assist in budget projections, and serve as Super User for purchasing requisitions. Telework is eligible for this position.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; a four-year college degree in accounting or finance is preferred.
• Experience in accounting, auditing, budgeting or related financial work.
• Experience with accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting.
• Experience using CAPPS, USAS or equivalent accounting systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Attends regular, predictable schedule as per agency policy.
• Receives invoices and prepares purchase vouchers for payment using CAPPS Financials.
• Ensures valid purchase orders and contracts before processing payments.
• Monitors contract PO amounts to ensure expenses stay within limits and follows up with vendors.
• Provides statistical and financial reports to support regional budgeting and cost pool tracking.
• Acts as Super User or backup in purchasing requisition processes.
