Heart of Texas Region Behavioral Health Network is seeking an onsite Accountant Specialist to handle accounts payable and related financial tasks. The role emphasizes processing payments, maintaining records, and preparing reports in a structured finance department.

Qualifications

• Experience in accounting and financial operations. One to three years of accounting, accounts payable, bookkeeping, or related financial experience required.
• Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent required; associates degree or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares financial records and controls and operating reports.
• Assist with audit requests by locating invoices, payment records, purchase orders, and other supporting documentation.
• Processing check and ACH payments for external vendors.
• Prepares trial balances, substantive financial statements, special exhibits, or schedules.
• Prepares payment, cash, general journal, and related vouchers.
• Checks accounting operations in progress, reviewing and auditing completed financial records for accuracy and conformance with legal and departmental procedures and regulations.
• Research reconciliation discrepancies and reports findings.
• Keeps abreast of legislative changes which affect the management of funds.
• May be responsible for receiving, depositing, allocating and auditing federal funds or special state funds or appropriations.
• Perform related work as assigned.
