Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding experience.
• Experience with computers and standard office apps.
• Knowledge of medical insurance referral procedures.
• Familiarity with CPT/HCPCS/ICD-10 coding systems.
• Strong English reading/writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Process and coordinate patient referrals promptly, obtaining approvals.
• Obtain physician approvals for referrals and admissions.
• Serve as liaison among patients, physicians, and insurers.
• Secure referral numbers and authorizations from insurers.
• Follow up on pending authorizations and deadlines.
• Schedule admissions, procedures, and tests.
• Notify patients with appointment details and numbers.
• Document referrals and authorization data in records.
