Job summary

UnitedHealth Group in Farmington, CT is seeking a Referral Coordinator to support referrals and patient registrations for specialty visits and imaging. You will coordinate with clinicians, practices, and insurance providers to verify benefits and obtain prior authorizations, while tracking and communicating referral status.

Responsibilities include scheduling, patient communication, and collaboration with Practice Managers for approvals.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ years in hospital/physician office or medical clinic setting.
• 6+ months in Healthcare Insurance Procedures – commercial, healthcare, State.
• Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of ICD-10/CPT codes and medical terminology.
• Must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

• Liaise between clinicians and insurances to ensure referrals are processed correctly.
• Handle referral processing, patient registration, benefits verification, and prior authorizations.
• Schedule patient appointments and communicate with practices.
• Coordinate with Practice Managers for peer-to-peer approvals when needed.
• Track referrals in the work queue and ensure timely, compliant processing.
• Assist with patient information and registrations; update practices on referral status.
